ANNUAL YOUTH EVENTS
Summer Missions Trip This trip is for High School students only. Each November we decide upon the destination for the trip that will take place in the summer of the next year. In the past few years we have sent 9 of us to New York City and 14 of us to West Virginia, and 7 of us to Washington, D.C. and a group of 15 to Mon Valley, PA. This year we had a group going to Cincinnati OH in August. This is by far the biggest yearly event. Fall Retreat Every fall we hold a retreat. We have worship, general sessions, times of prayer & meditation, and a service project. This year the girls are going to the REVOLVE Tour at the Spectrum in Philadelphia (Nov. 2-3). The guys are sneaking out of town for an overnight of intense Bible study, fun, and fellowship. Winter Retreat This is the weekend trip that everyone looks forward to being at: 2 ½ days with God and our friends. Some our fondest memories are of times spent at these retreats. Last year's retreat was at a private home in the Pocono mountains. Acquire the Fire Teen Mania Ministries holds 2-Day mini-retreats for teenagers all over the United States. Each spring we look for the closest city where one is held. (Usually it's Baltimore, Maryland.) We drive down on Friday right after school, attend the night program, and spend the night somewhere local. Saturday morning we pack up and head back to the program for the day and return home late Saturday Night. City Team Rescue Mission Twice a year we take a turn in an ongoing Missions Project the Church Sunday School supports. City Team is a Mission/Shelter for the needy people of Chester, PA. Our morning includes preparing the meal, running a 30 minute church service, serving the meal, and sticking around for clean up. Afterward, we usually stop for lunch and discuss what we learned and accomplished that day. Rally Day Rally Day is held on the second Sunday in September. Although it is more of a church-wide event, the day always includes the Youth Group Fall Kick-Off. Pastor Dan takes this special meeting to set the tone or focus for the upcoming school year. Corn Stalking This is both an evangelistic outreach and a great competition. We take students to Corn Stalking for an awesome event. Students are broken up into teams and have 90 minutes to find their way around a maze cut into a corn field. This is all done with flashlights in the dark. The team that finds all 16 game pieces and returns to home base the fastest wins. We then share snacks ready and we end the night with an outdoor evangelistic movie followed by a presentation of the Gospel. If that wasn't awesome enough, the entire night costs only $8.00.
